What resolution should my artworks be?

When printing, the optimum print resolution for digital printers is 300 PPI. Blurring and pixelization will occur if a file is designed with a resolution less than 300 PPI. You should not, however, design with a resolution more than 300 PPI. There will be no change in print quality as far as the eye can perceive. It will also significantly increase the size of your file (increasing file upload/transfer time).

We usually suggest printing 300 PPI drawings, however we understand that you may not have the capacity to modify your designs. If you are unable to print your files at 300 PPI, you will need to take certain steps to guarantee that a lesser resolution will work for you.

Before you begin creating your file, we suggest that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (for example, Photoshop) to 300 PPI. Blurring/pixelation will still occur if the resolution is increased after the start.

Where can I pickup my printing jobs?

We have two sites in New York City’s downtown area. Check which is more convenient: Manhattan’s SOHO district or Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. Do you check the artworks before printing?

Before printing, our staff double-checks all of the work. If we run into any issues with the files, we’ll let you know and show you how to alter the format. Please keep in mind that color and size mode conversions will be done automatically without any input from you.

We examine the drawings throughout the analysis.

– if the files are in one of the acceptable file types (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the file provided is greyscale (only if you have purchased a color print)
– if the file is the proper size (otherwise, we will scale your work to the required size, however this may result in a loss in quality). There will be no extra bleeding added to the procedure).
– if drill lines have been defined
– if the correct fonts have been included in the file

Why do my artworks require bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spots on the printed output. This implies that your design should always be 2mm bigger than the actual print format (including pictures and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and important components of your design at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to guarantee that they are visible.

Optional: If providing data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology items. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on both sides. The elastic frames made of cloth must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you need more information.

What filetypes do you accept for artwork?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, PSD and PS (PostScript) are among the file types that may be uploaded

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) straight from your graphics software. When saving artworks, select the “1.3 compatibility” option to prevent issues with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re transmitting TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to prevent color variations or issues with the printed picture.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

We certainly are! We provide the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing goods in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and energy, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in hazardous waste in the past. One of New York Print’s main priorities is environmental protection, and we try to put our world first.

Here’s how Gorilla Printing works on its footprint

– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing techniques that decrease paper use, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile compounds
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle obsolete equipment and computer components.

Discover More about Wheatpaste Posters

Posters have a long history of being a useful tool for presenting both text and pictures. They are often utilized in public places to advertise services, goods, events, or ideas. They may also provide a lot of aesthetic appeal to your workplace or house as art and décor. They may also be made in almost any custom size, enabling you to design the ideal poster for your wheat paste requirements.

Which size is the most appropriate for your requirements? While you may make your poster almost any size you like, you might want to stay with one of the “conventional” sizes. Take a look at some of the most popular poster sizes below and choose the one that works best for you!

18″x24″ — 24″x36″ — 48″x72″

What are the different types of posters we print?

Glossy
Every print on glossy posters has a vivid, rich richness. The glossy finish creates a smooth, texture-free surface that brings out the most in your design’s features. Glossy posters look great in any environment, but they really shine in low-light conditions like indoors.

Matte
Matte posters are comparable to glossy posters in weight and thickness, but they have a bit more substance behind the image. They’re also more resistant to smearing and fingerprints. Matte posters include bright colors that are somewhat subdued compared to glossy posters. Their optimum exhibition position is in a bright, well-lit area.

Metallic
Metallic posters offer the most true-tone color of all our poster materials, despite their rarity. Metallic posters have a metallic look and, like glossy posters, excel in bringing out rich, vivid colors in every print. Metallic posters, whether used for a promotion or as a workplace decoration, are guaranteed to attract notice.

Wheat Paste

Our wheatpaste poster products are printed on ultra thin 100lb paper which is perfect to mix with wheat flour glue for wheatpasting to walls. Vibrant colors are absolutely guaranteed using our state-of-the-art digital printing presses.

Poster Printing FAQs

How long do you think my poster will last?

Our basic posters are printed on archival paper and will endure for decades if displayed indoors. Frequent handling and exposure to UV radiation, on the other hand, may drastically reduce their lifetime. Use a dry, non-abrasive cloth to clean your poster; do not use any kind of cleaning agent. We suggest putting your poster in a secure envelope and keeping it flat. With appropriate care and upkeep, cardstock posters may last up to two years. Make sure your posters are only used inside and that they are not exposed to liquids, excessive dust, or dirt. Clean cardstock posters using a dry cloth. To minimize damage, lay them flat or wrap them up and secure them with a rubber band before storage. Posters put on foam board may survive two years or longer, while posters mounted on PVC plastic can last five years or longer; bear in mind, however, that severe weather and high temperatures can reduce the lifespans of posters placed outside. Wipe mounted posters on foam board with a dry towel; for posters with a protective laminate, use a non-abrasive cloth to wipe the surface (a citrus based cleaner or isopropyl alcohol can be used). Cleaning mounted posters on plastic PVC with a wet cloth and mild soap is recommended. Mounted posters should be kept flat in a cool, dry setting; avoid storage locations that are too cold, hot, or humid. Avoid putting heavy items on top of foam board posters since they are more prone to bending or creasing.

Is it possible to print posters on both sides?

Both sides of our paper and mounted posters (both foam board and plastic) may be printed. There is an option to select double sided printing in the customization options of each product when you order.

Is it possible to have my poster sliced into a unique shape?

Our paper posters come in a variety of forms, including custom/contour and custom with border (called “halo”), as well as circle/oval, rounded corners, and square/rectangle. Wheat paste posters cannot be modified and are printed only in a number of fixed sizes.

Do your posters come in a variety of finishes?

All of our poster items come in a variety of finishes except for our wheat paste posters, which are a special thin paper specifically designed to use with wheat paste glue. Our same day posters, come in a range of posters including Glossy, which is brilliant and shiny and works well with high-contrast pictures and low-light situations; matte, which offers soft/muted colors and resists fingerprint smudges; and metallic, which creates a pearl-like appearance that truly makes colors pop. Because our mounted posters are printed directly with UV ink onto foam board or plastic/sintra, they have a satin finish. However, a glossy appearance and additional protection may be achieved with the addition of an optional laminate. Dry erase may be used with the protective lamination option. Our cardstock posters are digitally printed on 24pt cardstock, which is a solid paper product that can stand alone against a wall. The prints are matte in texture and look by default, however you may add a glossy protective laminate to your paper poster print if desired.

What factors should I consider while choosing a poster?

One of the first questions to ask is if the poster will be utilized as art/décor at home or as messaging/promotion in a company or setting. Our basic posters are often used in art/décor applications for home or office; they’re photo-printed onto archival papers with your choice of gloss to enhance the picture, and they may be framed for a more complete aesthetic. Our cardboard posters and mounted posters, on the other hand, are more often used for messages and advertising at businesses and company facilities since they’re printed with durable UV inks on more rigid substrates that can withstand more demanding conditions.

Another first thing to consider is if you want to utilize the poster inside or outdoors. If you need an outdoor poster, select a mounted poster made of PVC plastic – it’s the only kind of poster that can resist rain, snow, and other moisture. It’s also scratch and dent resistant, and it’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage. When it comes to dampness or the outdoors, our basic posters, paper posters, and foam board mounted posters will not hold up.

Another first thing to think about is the shape: A cardstock poster is the best option if you want a custom shape or a non-rectangular/non-square form. These come in custom/contour and custom with border, as well as circle/oval, rounded corners, and square/rectangle. Only basic rectangular forms are available in our regular posters and mounted posters.

How do I make wheat flour?

To create wheat paste, combine two parts white or whole-grain wheat flour with three parts water, whisk to remove any lumps, and bring to a boil, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Add additional water as needed as it thickens; simmer on low heat for at least half an hour, stirring constantly. Now you are ready with your mixture to apply it to your posters.

Is wheatpasting illegal in NYC?

Yes and no! Fly posting is technically illegal, but there are certain places where you may obtain authorization to do it lawfully. The city forbids what’s known as general advertising, which refers to signs that promote anything that isn’t for sale inside the business where they are displayed. That means it’s against the law to advertise on construction barriers, and corner shops may promote beer and soda if they sell it, but not movie tickets or CDs.
