Got a question about our process? Find out here

What resolution should my artworks be?

When printing, the optimum print resolution for digital printers is 300 PPI. Blurring and pixelization will occur if a file is designed with a resolution less than 300 PPI. You should not, however, design with a resolution more than 300 PPI. There will be no change in print quality as far as the eye can perceive. It will also significantly increase the size of your file (increasing file upload/transfer time).

We usually suggest printing 300 PPI drawings, however we understand that you may not have the capacity to modify your designs. If you are unable to print your files at 300 PPI, you will need to take certain steps to guarantee that a lesser resolution will work for you.

Before you begin creating your file, we suggest that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (for example, Photoshop) to 300 PPI. Blurring/pixelation will still occur if the resolution is increased after the start.

Where can I pickup my printing jobs?

Pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During business hours, you may always fill out our contact form and we will contact you within one hour. We have two sites in New York City’s downtown area. Check which is more convenient: Manhattan’s SOHO district or Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. Our offices are both readily accessible by vehicle and train.

Every printing project in New York City requires a high level of quality and consistency. Our machines are exclusively operated by experts, and our skilled design staff is ready to assist you with your next printing job. We only take orders online at Printing New York, however if you have any questions or concerns about making your order, please contact us and a member of our staff will walk you through the process. Our knowledgeable and courteous guidance, coupled with our creative designers and skilled printing team, provide our customers with a service that will exceed their expectations. See for yourself by visiting one of our New York offices.

Do you check the artworks before printing?

Before printing, our staff double-checks all of the work. If we run into any issues with the files, we’ll let you know and show you how to alter the format. Please keep in mind that color and size mode conversions will be done automatically without any input from you.

We examine the drawings throughout the analysis.

– if the files are in one of the acceptable file types (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the file provided is greyscale (only if you have purchased a color print)
– if the file is the proper size (otherwise, we will scale your work to the required size, however this may result in a loss in quality). There will be no extra bleeding added to the procedure).
– if drill lines have been defined
– if the correct fonts have been included in the file

Why do my artworks require bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spots on the printed output. This implies that your design should always be 2mm bigger than the actual print format (including pictures and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and important components of your design at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to guarantee that they are visible.

Optional: If providing data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology items. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on both sides. The elastic frames made of cloth must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you need more information.

What filetypes do you accept for artwork?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, PSD and PS (PostScript) are among the file types that may be uploaded

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) straight from your graphics software. When saving artworks, select the “1.3 compatibility” option to prevent issues with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re transmitting TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to prevent color variations or issues with the printed picture.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

We certainly are! We provide the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing goods in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and energy, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in hazardous waste in the past. One of New York Print’s main priorities is environmental protection, and we try to put our world first.

Here’s how Gorilla Printing works on its footprint

– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing techniques that decrease paper use, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile compounds
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle obsolete equipment and computer components.

Discover More about Pole Flags

Custom flags printed with UV ink on 4 oz polyester material using a sophisticated dye-sublimation technique. Purchase a flag pole and a flag mount. With a personalised flag, you can promote your company, sports team, and more!

The flag’s 4 oz. polyester provides for easy washing and maintenance. Clean the flag with a wet towel if it is filthy. Hard cleaning chemicals (such as bleach) should be avoided since they may degrade the graphic quality of your flag. The flag may also be machine washed in cold water on a low cycle. Allow the flag to air dry after washing (do not use a tumble dryer to dry the flag). When your flag is not in use, we recommend that you store it appropriately. To avoid being stepped on, fold the flag and place it on a shelf above the ground. Objects should not be placed on top of the flag. While exhibiting the flag in the light or heat, any creases should come out.

Custom flags are what they sound like. When compared to feather, teardrop, rectangular, and angled flag banners, how do they differ?

Custom or standard flags are made of a weather-resistant, fade-resistant 4 oz. polyester cloth and printed utilising a permanent dye sublimation technique for indoor and outdoor display purposes, with the added bonus of a reinforced grommet strip to fasten the flag to almost any object. The flag’s flexibility allows it to be exhibited in a number of settings, such as atop flagpoles (optional), in windows, and on fences or walls using rope, zip ties, wall-mounted hooks, nails, and other materials. Custom flags come in a rectangular shape with no curved or carefully sculpted designs. Custom flags are typically used for domestic and small-scale displays, such as at businesses and churches.

Feather, teardrop, rectangular, and angled flag banners are customised advertising or business flags with a pole pocket on the flag and a flexible pole that are tailored to a certain form. There are no grommets on these advertising flags. All advertising flags are designed to be displayed outside, either in or on the ground, with a stake or base, and generally range in height from 9 to 18 feet. Their major purpose is to promote businesses and events.

What’s the difference between nylon and polyester flags?

While both materials are acceptable for usage as standard or bespoke flags, they have distinct characteristics that distinguish them. Nylon flags are generally thinner than polyester flags, making them more lightweight and allowing them to float in the breeze. Because of its thinness, it is also easier to fold (especially with smaller flags). Nylon is a gleaming (glossy) substance. Nylon is a water-resistant material that may be used for outdoor displays. Nylon flags are often used for short-term display rather than long-term exhibition. At this moment, we do not have any nylon flags available. Polyester flags are thicker than nylon flags and can withstand higher wind gusts. Larger flags are unsuitable for smaller flagpoles because polyester flags are heavier than nylon flags. Polyester is more durable, particularly in windy circumstances. Polyester is more resistant to tearing and piercing than cotton. Polyester has a matte finish. The material is weather durable (it fades less than nylon) and may be shown outside for lengthy periods of time (lasts longer than Nylon).

Do you have any pennant flags available?

We do not currently provide pennant flags or cut-to-size standard or bespoke flags. Flags are rectangular or square in form, as explained on this page. Our advertising flags come in a variety of forms for company and event marketing, but they are not called pennant flags.

Will a flag pole be included with my personalised flag purchase?

With the purchase of a bespoke flag, we offer 1″ diameter aluminium flagpoles as an extra add-on. These poles are 72″ long and are made up of two sections that are linked together. Any normal 1″ flag mount will work with them.

Do you sell flag-making kits?

Both flag poles and flag mounts are available. These can be ordered together or separately when a custom flag is purchased. Simply choose one (or both) of the flag poles or flag mounts from the accessories menu within the design tool when creating your own flag.

Will the flag fade if it is exposed to the sun?

Due to the dye sublimation printing technique, our bespoke flags are designed to endure regular exposure to sunlight. The design is protected from fading and scratches using this printing method. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading, however this should seldom be an issue in everyday use.

Will my flag be blown away by the wind?

We recommend tying your flag to a flagpole or a solid item to prevent it from being blown away in the wind. High-intensity winds may occasionally cause the flag to be removed from its mooring.

Is there a rope included with the flag to secure it?

A rope is not included with the flag to tie it to an object. To secure the flag, we recommend using a rope that is less than 12 inches thick.

Is there a limit to how tiny or large my personalised flag may be?

Flags may be as little as 12”x12” and as large as 62” x 100”. In other words, the largest flag we can make is about 5’x8′ (H x W) or 8’x5′ (H x W) (W x H).

What are the most frequent custom flag sizes?

2.5’x4′, 3’x5′, 4’x6′, 5’x8′, and 6’x10′ are all common flag sizes.

Our design tool lists these as 4’x2.5′, 5’x3′, 6’x4′, 8’x5′, and 10’x6′ since our site utilises WxH rather than HxW. As previously stated, the largest flag we can make is 8’x5′.

While certain official flags have strict size restrictions, the basic rule of thumb for personal/custom flags is to utilise the height of your pole to establish the appropriate flag size. The breadth of your flag should be at least 14 times the height of your flagpole, according to this regulation. The following is our recommended flag size based on typical flagpole heights:

4’x2.5′ – 10′

5’x3′ – 15′

5’x3′ – 20′

6’x4′ – 25′

8’x5′ – 30′

A bespoke flag put on a residential home or business with a regular flag kit is generally 4’x2.5′ (5-foot pole) or 5’x3′ (6-foot pole) in size. Either of these sizes would result in a horizontal orientation/rectangular form and an average size flag that would be ideal for your residence.

What is the material that your bespoke flag is composed of?

Our personalised flags are constructed of a tough 4 oz. polyester material. Because of its durability and flexibility, as well as its long-lasting print quality, we’ve discovered that 4 oz. polyester is the best material for flags.

How long will your personalised flag last?

The flag’s lifespan may be extended to four years or more with appropriate care and preservation. The flag’s lifespan can be shortened by displaying it in direct sunlight for lengthy periods of time or in inclement weather.

What method is used to print my design on the flag?

A dye sublimation method will be used to print your design onto your flag. The ink is infused directly into the polyester cloth, giving in a vivid and long-lasting picture.

Do you sell flags that have been hand-stitched? Embroidery?

We do not sell hand-stitched flags; instead, we use a dye sublimation method to produce all of our flags. Similarly, we do not presently provide embroidered flags.

Will my design be applied to the full flag or only a section of it?

Except for the strip containing your grommets, your design will cover the full face of the flag. This reinforced, white grommet strip is approximately 12 inches and will be on either the left or top edge (depending on the option you choose). Our design tool does not show this roughly 1.5″. As a result, we advise against having any writing that extends all the way to the edge of your flag. Please notice that this strip is always white, regardless of its placement.

The only time your design will not cover the whole area is if you choose the option of no grommet strip. In this scenario, your design will cover the whole flag but will be missing the strip and grommets that are required to hang or fly the flag. If you choose this option, your flag will simply have a sewn hem (white stitching) on all four sides.

Is it possible to order a flag that does not include the strip or grommets?

Yes! Simply choose the version that does not include a grommet strip. The design will cover the whole surface of your flag, but it will be missing the strip and grommets that are required to hang or fly it. A stitched hem will be present on all four sides (white stitching). If you want to show the flag by holding it up like you see at soccer stadiums and other sporting events, this is the best circumstance.

Is it true that the grommet strip is always white? Are there any exceptions?

Your left or top grommet strip will always be white if this option is enabled. We are currently unable to create the strip in any other colour. Regardless of how you want to use your flag, we’re confident you’ll find it to be not only excellent quality but also aesthetically attractive!

Is the flag’s stitching always white? Are there any exceptions?

Yes. Regardless of the design of your personalised flag, the stitching will always be white. We do not currently provide any other stitching colour options.

Will printing in many colours be more expensive?

The cost of printing will not rise if you print 1 colour or 100 colours because we always print in full colour! The size and number of flags you buy will determine the cost of your order.

Is the sheen on your flags matte or glossy?

The flag’s polyester material, as well as your printed design, will be matte.

Will my flag melt if it is exposed to intense sunshine or extreme heat?

When put in direct sunshine, the 4 oz. polyester is heat resistant, which means it will not melt. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can alter the colour and pattern of the flag.

Are your flags resistant to fire?

Flags can withstand heat, but they are not meant to withstand fire. We recommend placing the flag away from open flames or sparks.

Do I have to use one of your flag templates?

Templates are not required to be used; they are provided to assist in the creation of a custom flag. You may either upload your own design or use our design tool to create a flag from scratch. If you need help designing a bespoke flag, we can provide free design assistance.

Is it possible for your flags to be used on both sides?

Our flags may be used on both sides. To enable this, simply pick the double-sided option in the design tool.

Is it possible to have a distinct design on the front and back of my flag?

On each side of your flag, you can print a different design or graphic. To begin creating the back side, pick the double-sided option and then click the ‘back side’ button in the design tool. Simply choose “2 Sides Separate” under the ‘Printed Sides’ option in our design tool and submit different files to the corresponding sides.

Are there many layers of material in double-sided flags?

Double-sided flags are made out of two layers of polyester fabric with a linen insert in the middle to prevent the pattern on one side from “bleeding” or showing through on the other. There will be simply one layer of polyester material on a single-sided flag, with no linen insert.

Is it possible to order a single-sided flag?

There are single-sided flags available.

Is the single-sided option able to print both sides? Or can it be seen from the opposite side?

A flag produced using the single-sided option will have your design printed on one side and a somewhat faded and mirrored counterpart on the other (similar to viewing your design on the opposite side of a printed sheet of paper). Select the double-sided option in the design tool to have the identical design and text (not mirrored) shown on the reverse side of your flag.

What options do I have for displaying a custom flag?

Flags can be exhibited in a variety of ways, including on a flagpole, suspended vertically from a ceiling or overhang, tethered to a fence, or hung on a wall. They’ll also work with any pole that has clips or hooks for a typical pole kit for front porches or residences. When the flag is attached using grommets, the strengthened grommet strip adds to the flag’s longevity. Along with every bespoke flag order, we provide suitable flag poles and conventional flag mounts as optional purchases.

What is the purpose of custom flags?

Custom flags are a great way to show off your team enthusiasm, corporate branding, national pride, or holiday spirit. Flags are great for both interior and outdoor decorating, and they may be hung with rope or hooks or exhibited on a flagpole. Flags may also be used for advertising and business purposes. Use flags to decorate vendor booths or as temporary displays at outdoor events (i.e. no parking, off limits, and other directing signs). There’s no limit to what you can do with custom flags.

Do you have any individual state or nation flag templates?

The only custom flag templates we presently have are those displayed higher up on this page. However, if you are unable to locate the flag you want, you may contact us for free design assistance! We can make whatever flag you desire as long as there are no copyright concerns!

Do you have any sports team templates? Is it possible to have a professional team’s logo printed on my flag?

There are no templates available for professional sports teams. We are unable to print these sorts of flags unless you have the rights to print copyrighted logos.

Is it possible to print military-themed flags?

Military flags can be printed if they comply with our terms of service.

Is it possible to utilise your own flags in a car? What about when you’re out on the water?

Our personalised flags are made to be displayed on solid objects or anchor points. Our flags may be placed on automobiles in practise, however we do not provide any vehicle attachments for this. If the flag is to be exhibited on a boat, we propose connecting it to the hull using a flagpole.

Installation and Maintenance

What is the best way for me to look after my flag?

When not in use, we recommend keeping your flag to extend the life of the material and design (this is especially true for flags displayed in direct sunlight). Fold the flag and place it on a shelf or in a protective box or container to store it. If the flag becomes soiled, remove any caked-on dirt with a wet cloth and a mild soap combination. To keep your flag from being destroyed, stay away from chlorine and other harsh cleaners. Custom flags may be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. Allow to air dry after washing separately from other things (do not use a tumble dryer). If your flag is wrinkled, expose it to direct sunshine or heat to smooth it out. If you want to get rid of creases on your flag, don’t iron it (this will damage the material and design).

Is it possible to wash my flag?

Yes, bespoke flags may be machine washed in cold water on a gentle spin cycle. When drying the flag, avoid using bleach detergent or a tumble dryer.

What is the best way to save my personalised flag?

Fold your personalised flag carefully and place it on a shelf or in a location where it will not be stepped on to store it. Place the flag away from sharp things. We recommend storing the flag in a secure case (we do not offer these for custom flags).
