Got a question about our process? Find out here

What resolution should my artworks be?

When printing, the optimum print resolution for digital printers is 300 PPI. Blurring and pixelization will occur if a file is designed with a resolution less than 300 PPI. You should not, however, design with a resolution more than 300 PPI. There will be no change in print quality as far as the eye can perceive. It will also significantly increase the size of your file (increasing file upload/transfer time).

We usually suggest printing 300 PPI drawings, however we understand that you may not have the capacity to modify your designs. If you are unable to print your files at 300 PPI, you will need to take certain steps to guarantee that a lesser resolution will work for you.

Before you begin creating your file, we suggest that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (for example, Photoshop) to 300 PPI. Blurring/pixelation will still occur if the resolution is increased after the start.

Where can I pickup my printing jobs?

We have two sites in New York City’s downtown area. Check which is more convenient: Manhattan’s SOHO district or Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. Our offices are both readily accessible by vehicle and train.

Our machines are exclusively operated by experts, and our skilled design staff is ready to assist you with your next printing job. We only take orders online at Printing New York, however if you have any questions or concerns about making your order, please contact us and a member of our staff will walk you through the process. Our knowledgeable and courteous guidance, coupled with our creative designers and skilled printing team, provide our customers with a service that will exceed their expectations. See for yourself by visiting one of our New York offices.

Do you check the artworks before printing?

Before printing, our staff double-checks all of the work. If we run into any issues with the files, we’ll let you know and show you how to alter the format. Please keep in mind that color and size mode conversions will be done automatically without any input from you.

We examine the drawings throughout the analysis.

– if the files are in one of the acceptable file types (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the file provided is greyscale (only if you have purchased a color print)
– if the file is the proper size (otherwise, we will scale your work to the required size, however this may result in a loss in quality). There will be no extra bleeding added to the procedure).
– if drill lines have been defined
– if the correct fonts have been included in the file

Why do my artworks require bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spots on the printed output. This implies that your design should always be 2mm bigger than the actual print format (including pictures and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and important components of your design at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to guarantee that they are visible.

Optional: If providing data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology items. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on both sides. The elastic frames made of cloth must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you need more information.

What filetypes do you accept for artwork?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, PSD and PS (PostScript) are among the file types that may be uploaded

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) straight from your graphics software. When saving artworks, select the “1.3 compatibility” option to prevent issues with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re transmitting TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to prevent color variations or issues with the printed picture.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

We certainly are! We provide the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing goods in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and energy, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in hazardous waste in the past. One of New York Print’s main priorities is environmental protection, and we try to put our world first.

Here’s how Gorilla Printing works on its footprint

– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing techniques that decrease paper use, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile compounds
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle obsolete equipment and computer components.

One of my workers recommended we use Gorilla Printing. I am very happy with the quality of the vinyl as these banners can be really cheap and nasty. I’m very happy to recommend these guys the banner was excellent.

Discover More about Step and Repeat Backdrop

Step and repeat backdrop banners, sometimes known as backgrounds, are commonly used as a backdrop for photography at trade exhibitions and other events. Step-and-repeat logos are made up of one or more repeating logos, hence the name. Stunning full-color dye sublimation step and repeat banners produced on 9 oz polyester fabric. Our banners include a sturdy frame with interconnected poles that can be quickly assembled indoors, designed for trade exhibits, conferences, weddings, gatherings and more.

They’re a terrific method to promote sponsors at an event while also giving a great photo opportunity for attendees. Advertise your event’s sponsors without being intrusive.

Your step and repeat banner is machine washable (cold water, low cycle) and can be washed as needed during its lifetime. Please disassemble the frame and store it in the carrying case to extend the life of the poles and prevent unintentional damage. Avoid ripping the pole pockets when removing the fabric banner from the pole set where the adjustable elements of the poles are placed. A steamer can also be used to eliminate wrinkles.

Is it referred to as a ‘backdrop’ or a ‘Step and Repeat banner’? Is there a distinction?

A “Step and Repeat banner” is the most prevalent term for the product. The Step and Repeat backdrop section denotes a display that is simple to put together and frequently used as a photo backdrop. As a result, the product is commonly referred to as a photography background or simply “backdrop.” While we’ll refer to it as a Step and Repeat banner most of the time, be assured that any mention of background, or a close variation, on this page refers to the same product. Whether it’s referred to as a Step and Repeat, a backdrop, or a hybrid of the two, it serves the same objective of providing a diverse display choice for events, pictures, and more.

Is it possible to utilise the Step and Repeat banner as a photography backdrop?

Our Step and Repeat banners can easily be utilised as an economical photo backdrop assuming the photographer is aware that the Step and Repeat banner does not contain any special lighting or photographic equipment. A bonus is that, unlike a vinyl backdrop used as a photo backdrop, the cloth is not reflective in nature. Nonetheless, in the absence of a professional photography backdrop, one must be mindful of the limitations of doing so. It’s a fabric banner with a metal frame that may be customised to serve as a backdrop for any type of prospective photographs.

What kind of fabric is the banner made of? Is there any further material for Step and Repeat banners?

Our Step and Repeat banners are composed of a 9 oz. polyester fabric, which ensures a colorful and long-lasting banner. We don’t have any other materials for our Step and Repeat banners right now.

What makes a polyester fabric banner different from a muslin fabric banner? What about banners made of canvas, vinyl, or mesh?

Polyester fabric is a synthetic, lightweight cloth that performs admirably as a banner material. Polyester is a fading-resistant and tear-resistant fabric. The heat transfer procedure is used to print the designs, resulting in a long-lasting, scratch-resistant result.

Natural cotton is used to make muslin fabrics, which are similar to delicate cotton material. Typically, muslin banners are used as decorations. The designs are either sewed into the banner or screen printed on the fabric. Muslin banners are only intended for indoor usage and are not as durable as polyester banners.

Canvas prints or banners are made of a thick linen or cotton blend that lasts longer than muslin but not as long as polyester. Canvas is a popular surface for painting and photograph printing, as well as for aesthetic uses.

Vinyl is a thick, high-quality material with a long lifespan. Our vinyl banners are composed of 13 oz. vinyl and printed with UV ink for a fade- and scratch-resistant finish. Vinyl banners may be used both indoors and outdoors, are weather resistant, and can be rolled up or folded for storage.

The ideal material for a step and repeat banner or backdrop is 9 oz polyester, according to our research. It’s perfect for capturing pictures because of the vibrant colors and crisp printing, as well as the matte finish.

What is the thickness of your Step and Repeat banners? Do you have any other thicknesses available?

For our Step and Repeat banners, we use a 9 oz. polyester cloth. 9 oz. polyester fabric, in our experience, is the ideal banner material for indoor displays and short-term outdoor use. Due to the tightly woven cloth holding the ink, the graphics printed on fabric banners are brilliant and long-lasting. We don’t have any additional thickness options for our Step and Repeat banners right now.

What are your banners’ minimum and maximum dimensions?

A cloth banner that attaches to a Step and Repeat frame or background is now available in sizes of 8’x8′, 9’x8′, and 10’x8′.

What is the material used to make the Step and Repeat frame or backdrop?

The frame’s poles are made of aluminium, which provides a robust framework while remaining lightweight. To loosen the extensible poles for height/width modifications, the grip parts of the poles are made of a tough plastic.

Is the frame’s size adjustable?

Yes. Any of the three sizes that we now offer will readily fit the frame. The frame’s width and height can be modified from 73″ to 132″ and 39.5″ to 106.5″.

Do you print Step and Repeat backdrop banners on both sides?

Because the Step and Repeat banner is most typically used as an event display or photo background, we do not provide double-sided banners. Please contact us for a price if you need a standard double-sided vinyl banner made.

Is it possible for light to flow through the banner? Does it provide some kind of transparency?

Although the fabric material allows light to pass through the banner, the banner is not translucent in nature due to the fabric utilised. Darker color backgrounds also have less visible light than brighter color backdrops.

Will there be seams on my banner?

There will be no seams in your banner, regardless of the size you choose. The flag is made up of a single component. The pole pockets and very small hems will be stitched on both the front and back sides of the banner, and stitching will be visible on both sides. This stitching is almost imperceptible, but it ensures a clean finish and increased durability.

Is the finish of the cloth banners matte or glossy?

When printed on polyester fabric, your Step and Repeat background will have a bright, matte surface.

Is it possible for your cloth banners to stretch?

Although polyester fabric has a tiny amount of elasticity, we do not advocate stretching the goods frequently. As a result, your banner may be permanently stretched, resulting in a change in appearance.

When displayed on the frame, will the banner sag or bunch up?

There will be some looseness when fully assembled because the cloth is not tension fabric. The majority of this slack may be eliminated by making sure your frame is the correct height and width. Any extra slack or looseness is merely a result of utilising a fabric banner with no tension.

Should I be concerned about ripping or tearing of the fabric banner?

The fabric banner might be damaged, ripped, or torn if not properly cared for. Make sure the banner is kept away from anything that could rip or damage it. Fold your banner gently and store it in a safe place to keep it in perfect condition.

For your Step and Repeat banners, what kind of printing technique do you use?

We print your design on the cloth banner using a dye sublimation process. Dye Sublimation is a heat press technique for transferring your design from a paper film to cloth. The heat ‘dyes’ the design into the fabric permanently, resulting in a colorful, long-lasting banner.

Have you hemmed the borders of your Step and Repeat banners?

The fabric banner’s edges are hemmed. Despite the fact that this hem is somewhat modest (about 14″ wide), It’s just big enough to keep your banner from fraying at the edges. The banner also has pole pockets stitched into the material at the top and bottom of the banner.

Do pole pockets have an impact on the banner’s printed area?

The pole pocket will cover approximately three inches of your graphic on both the top and bottom. From the front, that piece will be visible, but it will be wrapped halfway around the pole. As a result, placing text within 4 inches of the top or bottom of your design is not recommended.

What are some of the most common applications for your Step and Repeat banners?

Photo backdrops, interior backgrounds at tradeshows, conventions, fairs, and media events are all common uses for Step and Repeat banners. These step and repeat backdrops can be used to showcase a company’s latest items, photos of key event speakers, and directory information.

At red carpet events, formal dances, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, proms, and weddings, step and repeat banners can also be used as a backdrop for photography. Backdrops are ideal for promoting event sponsors during TV interviews or on the winner’s podium. Lighting should be employed to enhance the scene in images or an interview setting. Our Step and Repeat banners do not include any light elements. Finally, businesses can utilise these banners to create eye-catching promotional displays or seasonal advertising in their storefronts.

A bespoke backdrop is suitable for all of the scenarios indicated because of its quick setup and removal, as well as its professional presentation.

With the Step and Repeat frame, can I use a different banner?

The cloth banner made specifically for the Step and Repeat frame is recommended. Banners must be the correct size to fit the frame, thus unless you order an additional banner with pole pockets, it will not fit on the frame properly.

Is it possible for your backdrop banners to withstand the elements?

The Step and Repeat banner is not intended to withstand the elements. The polyester material is not waterproof and is prone to ripping and puncture. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight might harm the banner and printed artwork. The Step and Repeat banner should only be used indoors.

Is it possible to bind my banner to a solid item with rope or string?

The Step and Repeat banner does not require any anchoring measures when used indoors. The frame’s design ensures steadiness on flat surfaces. It’s worth noting that there are no manufactured anchor places where a rope may be used to connect the Step and Banner frame to an object if used outdoors.

Will my banner’s design fade over time?

The design of your banner will not fade if it is displayed and cared for properly. The banner’s indoor use will keep the graphic from fading over time. Only prolonged and direct sun exposure will wreak havoc on your cloth banner’s printing.

Will the printing on my banner scratch or rub off?

Using a heat transfer method, the design is permanently colored into the fibres of the cloth banner, increasing its endurance and scratch resistance. Scratching the design without causing damage to the cloth is unlikely. In any case, appropriate banner maintenance, display, and storage will prevent snagging or ripping of your cloth.
Installation & Maintenance

What is the best way to put up my Step and Repeat banner display?

There are a few easy stages to putting together your Step and Repeat banner. On the instruction leaflet that comes with your purchase, these steps are outlined. If this isn’t available for any reason, we’ve explained the steps below.

While the Step and Repeat banner can be set up and taken down by a single person, we recommend that at least two individuals work together to set it up. Assembly takes no more than 5-10 minutes with two individuals.

Each Step and Repeat banner will include six poles and two metal bases. An allen wrench, four plastic head bolts, and two screws are also supplied. A little plastic decal with lettering on it is used to designate the poles. Two “A-B” poles, two “C-D” poles, and two “A-C” poles make up this set. The horizontal poles are the first two (“A-B” and “C-D”). The latter will be your frame’s vertical poles.

The top horizontal poles (A-B) are first connected by connecting the two “B” ends of the poles. Simply depress the little silver button on one of the poles’ “B” ends. This will then snap into position in the other “B” end of the top pole. The “A” ends can be loosened and extended to the proper width of your banner once they’ve been clicked into place.

The bottom poles are attached in the same way as the top ones are. These are the “C-D” poles, with the locking button and hole on the “D” end and the adjustable piece of your frame on the “C” end.

The A-C stickers designate the vertical poles. On either end of the poles, there is no locking mechanism. Rather, the bottom contains a threaded hole that is used to attach the allen wrench and screw to the base. The pole can then be relaxed and extended to the full height required in two places. To connect the horizontal poles to the vertical poles, make sure the holes at the top and bottom of the pole face inwards once completely extended and fastened to the base.

Place the two horizontal poles through the provided pole pockets on the backside of your banner before attaching them to the two vertical poles. To prevent ripping of the pole pocket, carefully pull the banner over the loosening grips. We propose threading the poles through the ground pockets.

After you’ve inserted your horizontal poles into the pockets, you’ll need to connect them to the vertical poles and bases you’ve already put together. Tighten the top and bottom of each side of your frame with the four included plastic head screws. For the simplest assembly, we recommend doing everything on the ground.

Stand up your background banner with the two bases sitting on a flat, sturdy surface once it’s entirely completed and with the help of another person. You may need to reduce or extend the top and bottom of the horizontal poles to modify the width of your frame. For the simplest assembly, make adjustments to the top and bottom poles of the same side of the banner. If the height needs to be modified, the vertical poles can be adjusted in the same way.

What is the best way to store my banner?

We recommend keeping your backdrop frame and banner in the carrying bag that comes with the backdrop when you buy it. This case is meant to house all six poles as well as both bases in a safe and convenient manner. Although the banner does not come with the carrying case, it can be folded properly to fit within the bag for transport and storage.

How do I get rid of the creases on my banner?

To get rid of any creases on your banner, we recommend using a handheld steamer. You can also use a very low-heat setting on an iron to erase wrinkles.

What’s the best way to clean my banner? Can I clean my banner in the washing machine? What about drying it with a tumble dryer?

You may clean your banner with a moist towel for easy dirt removal. This will get rid of the majority of the surface grime that has accumulated on the banner.

Polyester fabric can also be washed on a low spin cycle in cold water in a washing machine. If you’re using a washing machine, stay away from harsh detergents like bleach. We do not recommend drying the banner in a tumble dryer. Instead, air dry the flag entirely before folding it for storing or displaying it.
