Got a question about our process? Find out here

What resolution should my artworks be?

When printing, the optimum print resolution for digital printers is 300 PPI. Blurring and pixelization will occur if a file is designed with a resolution less than 300 PPI. You should not, however, design with a resolution more than 300 PPI. There will be no change in print quality as far as the eye can perceive. It will also significantly increase the size of your file (increasing file upload/transfer time).

We usually suggest printing 300 PPI drawings, however we understand that you may not have the capacity to modify your designs. If you are unable to print your files at 300 PPI, you will need to take certain steps to guarantee that a lesser resolution will work for you.

Before you begin creating your file, we suggest that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (for example, Photoshop) to 300 PPI. Blurring/pixelation will still occur if the resolution is increased after the start.

Where can I pickup my printing jobs?

Pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During business hours, you may always fill out our contact form and we will contact you within one hour. We have two sites in New York City’s downtown area. Check which is more convenient: Manhattan’s SOHO district or Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. Our offices are both readily accessible by vehicle and train.

Every printing project in New York City requires a high level of quality and consistency. Our machines are exclusively operated by experts, and our skilled design staff is ready to assist you with your next printing job. We only take orders online at Printing New York, however if you have any questions or concerns about making your order, please contact us and a member of our staff will walk you through the process. Our knowledgeable and courteous guidance, coupled with our creative designers and skilled printing team, provide our customers with a service that will exceed their expectations. See for yourself by visiting one of our New York offices.

Do you check the artworks before printing?

Before printing, our staff double-checks all of the work. If we run into any issues with the files, we’ll let you know and show you how to alter the format. Please keep in mind that color and size mode conversions will be done automatically without any input from you.

We examine the drawings throughout the analysis.

– if the files are in one of the acceptable file types (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the file provided is greyscale (only if you have purchased a color print)
– if the file is the proper size (otherwise, we will scale your work to the required size, however this may result in a loss in quality). There will be no extra bleeding added to the procedure).
– if drill lines have been defined
– if the correct fonts have been included in the file

Why do my artworks require bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spots on the printed output. This implies that your design should always be 2mm bigger than the actual print format (including pictures and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and important components of your design at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to guarantee that they are visible.

Optional: If providing data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology items. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on both sides. The elastic frames made of cloth must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you need more information.

What filetypes do you accept for artwork?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, PSD and PS (PostScript) are among the file types that may be uploaded

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) straight from your graphics software. When saving artworks, select the “1.3 compatibility” option to prevent issues with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re transmitting TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to prevent color variations or issues with the printed picture.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

We certainly are! We provide the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing goods in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and energy, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in hazardous waste in the past. One of New York Print’s main priorities is environmental protection, and we try to put our world first.

Here’s how Gorilla Printing works on its footprint

– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing techniques that decrease paper use, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile compounds
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle obsolete equipment and computer components.

Discover More about Teardrop Flags

Teardrop flags with full color printing on 4 oz polyester cloth. Perfect for events, commercials, and stores that require outdoor advertising. There are a variety of bases for both hard and soft surfaces.

What Are Teardrop Flags and How Do You Use Them?

Teardrop flags, also known as teardrop flag banners or teardrop feather flags, are enormous teardrop-shaped flags that may be printed with any bespoke pattern using a dye sublimation method. They’re tied to a lightweight aluminium and fibreglass flagpole that’s either buried in the ground or mounted on a flag stand. With or without wind, this flagpole bends to keep the teardrop flag taut.
A teardrop flag banner placed in front of your store or business will undoubtedly attract the attention of potential clients and other passers-by. These teardrop flag banners make advertising your business simple and effective.

How to Look After Your Teardrop Flag

Maintaining and caring for your teardrop flag will ensure that it lasts for many years. These polyester teardrop flags can be washed in the machine, but not ironed or dried.

What’s the difference between a teardrop, feather flag, and standard flag?

Aside from the obvious variances in appearance and shape, each product has other characteristics that distinguish it from the others.

Because of its teardrop shape, the teardrop banner has a more taut display. The feather flag is made of more cloth and is less taut than the teardrop banner, allowing for a little more wind movement. When the sizes are same, the feather flag also offers extra space to print on due to its shape. Aside from that, the teardrop banner and the feather or flag banner are very similar. In terms of shape, setup, use, and display options, as well as effectiveness, they are similar. In the end, the decision between the two is based on cost and personal preference.

The teardrop and feather banners are frequently tied to bending poles, but a regular flag is usually affixed to a robust, vertical flag pole, leaving it more prone to floating freely in the wind. The shape is rectangular as well, and it has a very distinct appearance than the other two possibilities. Standard flags are not presently available.

What kind of material did you use to make your teardrop banner?

Our teardrop banners are comprised of a strong, lightweight, and flexible 4 oz. polyester cloth. Unlike our conventional vinyl banners, which are made of 13 oz. vinyl, the 4 oz. material is ideal for banners due to its lightweight qualities. Polyester has a plastic-like texture, yet it’s also flexible and foldable.

Is there a difference in the material of the poles based on the size of the teardrop banner I order?

The flagpole’s substance does not change with its size. Aluminum flagpoles with a tiny, more flexible fibreglass section are used in all sizes.

Is it intended for the flagpoles to be convertible between banner sizes?

No, each flagpole is made to hold a banner of the appropriate size. If you’re exhibiting a medium teardrop banner, you’ll need a medium-sized flagpole to support it. We’ll make sure you get the proper pole set size if you choose the Pole Set option.

How long will your teardrop banner last?

Our teardrop banner’s lifespan is determined by how well you care for it and how often you use it. The banner will typically last 2+ years if properly maintained for. Overexposure to the sun or harsh weather, such as high winds and heat, will shorten the banner’s lifespan. This is covered in greater depth in the following question.

Will the banner be affected by exposure to the sun or the elements, such as wind?

If you hang your banner in direct sunshine, the quality of your design will fade faster than if you hang it in the shade or indoors. Regardless, any form of fading or deterioration of the banner or printed component usually requires extended and direct exposure to the sun.

When compared to placing/using it indoors, the longevity of your personalised teardrop banner will be reduced if you use it in harsh conditions. There’s a danger the banner will be irreparably damaged if it’s displayed in inclement weather, such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snow. Strong winds can force the flagpole to bend unnecessarily and perhaps knock the banner over. If inclement weather is forecast, we recommend removing your teardrop banner and storing it.

Is it possible for teardrop banners to tear?

When not properly cared for, most polyester materials have the potential to rip or tear. We recommend keeping your banner away from sharp objects, as well as areas or conditions that could cause it to fall over. Over time, repeated assembly and disassembly can cause fraying or tearing of the banner pole pocket. Regardless, having your banner tear is incredibly unusual if you use it correctly.

What size teardrop banner can I make?

Teardrop banners are available in four sizes: small (7ft), medium (9ft), large (11.2ft), and X-Large (11.2ft) (13.5ft). The size differences pertain to the banner and flagpole as a whole. The banners are 23.17″ W x 63.52″ H (Small), 32.54″ W x 78.64″ H (Medium), 40.38″ W x 101.63″ H (Large), and 44.95″ W x 140.75″ H (Extra Large) (X-Large). Each banner’s width relates to the top of the banner, which then tapers to the bottom.

The height of your flagpole and banner will vary if they are mounted on a stand. The square base will add roughly an eighth of an inch to the overall height, while the cross base will add 7″. Depending on how deep you push the stake into the ground, the ground stake will add a varying height.

Will I be charged more if I print my banner in more than one color?

All of our banners are produced in full color, therefore the number of colors in your design will have no bearing on the price of your banner. On the other hand, the size and quantity of banners, as well as the options chosen, will increase the cost of your order.

Is the finish of your banners matte or glossy?

The banner will have a matte surface, which means it will be non-reflective and non-shiny.

Will my banner melt if it is exposed to direct sunshine or extreme heat?

In direct sunshine, polyester will heat up but not melt. Polyester melts at roughly 450 degrees, so there’s no need to be concerned about leaving it out in the sun. However, if not properly cared for, exposure to direct sunlight over an extended period of time might cause the artwork to fade.

What is the distinction between a square and a cross base?

Both bases are weighted and can be used both indoors and out. The square base’s shape, on the other hand, allows it to be positioned flat against the ground, eliminating the risk of it tipping over or becoming a tripping hazard. With a weight of 21 lbs, the square base is the heaviest of our bases. When placing the banner on a level, sturdy surface outside, we recommend using the square base. We prefer the ground stake over the square base for securing your flag in a grassy location.

The cross base is a four-legged, folding platform that provides stability while being portable. The cross base, unlike the square base, fits within the teardrop banner carrying case, making it easy to transport to tradeshows or conferences. Because the cross base is lighter, it may be readily installed in storefronts or businesses without the inconvenience of transporting the heavy square base about. The cross foundation is sturdy enough to use outdoors. If you’re going to put it outside, you can add the available water bag weight for added stability.

What is the purpose of the water bag? Is it possible to fill it with sand?

The water bag is a donut-shaped plastic weight that can be placed on the cross base to boost the base’s and flagpole’s stability. Despite being meant for water, the bag can be filled with sand. If you’re switching between sand and water, make sure the interior of the bag is completely dry before adding sand. Before filling the bag with water, make sure it’s completely free of sand.

What is the size of the ground stake? Is it suitable for use in either loose or dense soil?

The ground stake is 25″ long (approximately 2 feet) and has a peg to secure the teardrop banner as well as a surface to knock with a mallet or hammer while burying it. To guarantee that the ground stake is stable in the ground, we recommend placing it in solid soil. In windy conditions, loose or soft soil will not offer the essential support for the flagpole.

Is the carrying case included with my teardrop banner purchase? What can you put inside the case?

The carrying case is an optional purchase that may be made throughout the banner creation process. Your teardrop banner, on the other hand, will come with a pole bag that will simply serve to preserve your pole set. By default, the Pole Set option is selected to ensure that you receive poles with your banner.

One teardrop banner, a disassembled flagpole set, a cross base, and a folded and empty water bag are all designed to fit in the carrying case. The case has pockets for each flagpole element as well as a pouch for the cross base to keep everything safe within. The teardrop banner case can be carried by the handles or the accompanying shoulder strap and zips up to completely safeguard its contents.

What’s the difference between the pole bag and the carrying case?

A pole bag that preserves your bought pole set is included with the purchase of a teardrop banner. Only the disassembled pole set and a folded banner should be carried in this pole bag. There is no handle or travel strap on the bag. The pole set, folding banner, and cross base are all stored in the carrying case. A teardrop banner does not come with a carrying case; it must be purchased separately.

Is the carrying case meant to accommodate teardrop banners of all sizes?

Depending on the size of your teardrop banner, we provide two distinct carrying covers. One case is meant to fit Small and Medium banners, while the other is built to fit Large and X-Large banners. If you choose the carrying case option, we’ll make sure you get the right size based on the size of your banner.

Are your teardrop banners flammable?

Despite the fact that polyester banners have a small fire resistance, it is not suggested that you use them near an open flame. Polyester can melt when exposed to high temperatures.

Do I have to use one of your banner templates?

Not in the least! If you have a design or logo that you want to utilise, you can use our design tool to upload it. You can also contact us for free design assistance to work through the process with one of our experienced designers if you need help designing a banner.

Is the teardrop banner’s single-sided option mirrored or print through?

Please keep in mind that single-sided teardrop banners are print-through rather than duplicated on the back side. This implies that someone on the opposite side will be able to see your printed design, but the design and text will be mirrored. You’ll need to choose the double-sided option for your banner if you want the same message on both sides of the sign.

Is it possible for your teardrop banners to be printed on both sides?

Yes. For an extra fee, we can make double-sided teardrop banners. Can I do different images on the front and back of double sided rip banners? Please check the following question for more information and design considerations for our double sided option.
Yes. You can make your banner with the same design on both sides or with separate designs on both sides. Simply select the “Printed Sides” option and then click the “Back Side” button to customise the back side of your flag.

Will I get a pole set if I merely order a single or double-sided banner?

No. To make your teardrop banner function, first design it, then choose poles and your favourite stand as options. This is so that you may get replacement banners in the future.

What additional banners do you have available?

Gorilla Printing has a wide selection of banners for your display needs. We’ve got you covered with bespoke vinyl banners, cloth banners, and even retractable banners. A feather flag banner, which is similar in style and use to the teardrop banner, is also available.

Is it possible to purchase simply a teardrop banner? What about hardware only, with no banner?

You can currently acquire replacement or extra banners straight from our website. To order hardware, pole sets, carrying cases, or bases, please call 888-222-4929 or email support@Gorilla Printing. On our website, some alternatives are presently unavailable as stand-alone items.

Is it possible to have two banners on one pole?

Only one banner can be displayed on the ordered pole set. When securing the flagpole to the banner, tying them together is required, which is impossible to do when there are several banners.

Is it required that I use the pole set that came with my banner, or can I use any tiny pole?

Because the purchased pole set is specifically made to display the teardrop banner, we strongly advise you to use it. Attempting to use it with any other type of pole will almost certainly result in failure. If you need to attach a sign to a number of surfaces or in a variety of ways, our standard banners are a more versatile solution (rope, string, bungee, zip ties, etc.).

What are the most common applications for teardrop banners?

Teardrop banners are frequently used outside of companies or establishments to promote sales, products, grand openings, or special events. Showcase popular restaurant items, specials, new management, and more. They’re also frequently used as sponsor signage at various events. The goal of these banners is to catch the attention of passers-by on foot or in a car and persuade them to visit your store or business. The sky is the limit when it comes to what you can do with these banners.

Will my banner fade or wear out over time?

Your banner may fade if it is not displayed inside or out of direct sunlight for an extended period of time. Exposure to the weather, like any other material, can create wear and tear over time. The sign itself may fade as a result of this wear and tear. Any fading that may occur is dependent on the pace of use and the climate in which it is used, but we have found that fading does not appear until after a year or more of continuous use. We also advise against storing your unique teardrop banner in inclement or harsh weather.
Installation & Maintenance

What’s the best way to put my teardrop banner up?

The teardrop banner is simple to put in place. Take the two smallest poles and link them when erecting the flagpole. One will have a little knob at the top, which will be the assembled pole’s top. After that, connect the following two larger poles and merge them with the two smaller poles you already connected. Take the final largest pole and join it to the combined pole once all four poles are in place. Now you may slide the banner onto the pole by sliding the pole through the banner’s bottom pocket. Take your time moving the pole through the pocket to avoid stretching or tearing the material or bending the pole in an undesired way.

After the banner material has been secured to the pole, it is time to place it in either the ground stake or one of the other base alternatives. Take the little cord from the flagpole and thread it through the small loop at the bottom of the banner material after inserting the pole into the stake or base. Insert the cord into the metal ring of the base now that it has passed through the loop. Secure your flag and pole to the base with a knot. Now it’s time to put your teardrop flag together, either in or on the ground.

How can I fix the bungee on my banner that broke?

We are currently unable to provide a replacement bungee. While this small bungee aids in keeping the banner taut, it isn’t required for the flag to perform properly. As a result, you have a number of possibilities. The first option is to keep using the flag without it. Any other rope or little bungee will function in the same way as long as the fabric and metal hooks aren’t broken. We recommend purchasing a replacement banner and/or pole set if one of the hooks is broken.

What is the best way to take care of my banner?

Cleaning your banner may be necessary depending on how often and where you use it. Remove surface dirt from the banner with water and a moist towel if it becomes filthy or dirty. We do not recommend utilising cleaners that include harsh chemicals, such as bleach, because they may damage the banner. The banner material can also be washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. Rather than using a tumble or machine drier, hang your clothes to dry.

What is the best way to disassemble and store my teardrop banner?

It’s not difficult to take down your banner. Simply release the bungee cord attaching the banner to the pole after removing the flagpole from the base. Slowly remove the pole from the banner pocket, being careful not to break any of the pole parts in the process. After removing the banner from the pole, separate the pole components and fold the banner neatly. Protect the pole set with the included pole bag, or put the poles and folded banner in the optional carrying case when not in use. This will keep your deconstructed teardrop banner safe from harm.
