Got a question about our process? Find out here

What resolution should my artworks be?

When printing, the optimum print resolution for digital printers is 300 PPI. Blurring and pixelization will occur if a file is designed with a resolution less than 300 PPI. You should not, however, design with a resolution more than 300 PPI. There will be no change in print quality as far as the eye can perceive. It will also significantly increase the size of your file (increasing file upload/transfer time).

We usually suggest printing 300 PPI drawings, however we understand that you may not have the capacity to modify your designs. If you are unable to print your files at 300 PPI, you will need to take certain steps to guarantee that a lesser resolution will work for you.

Before you begin creating your file, we suggest that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (for example, Photoshop) to 300 PPI. Blurring/pixelation will still occur if the resolution is increased after the start.

Where can I pickup my printing jobs?

Pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During business hours, you may always fill out our contact form and we will contact you within one hour. We have two sites in New York City’s downtown area. Check which is more convenient: Manhattan’s SOHO district or Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. Our offices are both readily accessible by vehicle and train.

Every printing project in New York City requires a high level of quality and consistency. Our machines are exclusively operated by experts, and our skilled design staff is ready to assist you with your next printing job. We only take orders online at Printing New York, however if you have any questions or concerns about making your order, please contact us and a member of our staff will walk you through the process. Our knowledgeable and courteous guidance, coupled with our creative designers and skilled printing team, provide our customers with a service that will exceed their expectations. See for yourself by visiting one of our New York offices.

Do you check the artworks before printing?

Before printing, our staff double-checks all of the work. If we run into any issues with the files, we’ll let you know and show you how to alter the format. Please keep in mind that color and size mode conversions will be done automatically without any input from you.

We examine the drawings throughout the analysis.

– if the files are in one of the acceptable file types (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the file provided is greyscale (only if you have purchased a color print)
– if the file is the proper size (otherwise, we will scale your work to the required size, however this may result in a loss in quality). There will be no extra bleeding added to the procedure).
– if drill lines have been defined
– if the correct fonts have been included in the file

Why do my artworks require bleed?

All files should have a 2mm bleed on either side to guarantee that there are no white spots on the printed output. This implies that your design should always be 2mm bigger than the actual print format (including pictures and graphics). Failure to do so may result in minor differences, such as white margins. Place typefaces and important components of your design at least 3mm away from the final format (not counting bleeding) and avoid using edges as edges in layouts to guarantee that they are visible.

Optional: If providing data in an open format for printing, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g., A4 size including bleed should be 301214mm). – Please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on either side if submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging, or any other promotional technology items. – Envelopes should have a 1mm bleed on both sides. The elastic frames made of cloth must be bled 15mm.

Please refer to our artwork instructions if you need more information.

What filetypes do you accept for artwork?

JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, PSD and PS (PostScript) are among the file types that may be uploaded

Ensure that your PDF file is saved in normal PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a) straight from your graphics software. When saving artworks, select the “1.3 compatibility” option to prevent issues with layers and transparencies during the printing process.

If you’re transmitting TIFF files, keep the number of layers to a minimum.

Please do not utilize pre-separated data from DCS EPS to prevent color variations or issues with the printed picture.

Are you an environmentally friendly printer?

We certainly are! We provide the most comprehensive selection of soy ink-based eco-friendly printing goods in New York, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars, and more. Our regular stock is now recycled paper.

The printing sector has a bad reputation for environmental stewardship, with excessive use of water and energy, paper waste, and the usage of volatile chemicals that result in hazardous waste in the past. One of New York Print’s main priorities is environmental protection, and we try to put our world first.

Here’s how Gorilla Printing works on its footprint

– Using soy-based inks as standard
– Using recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing techniques that decrease paper use, such as duplex printing
– Modern equipment that consume less energy
– Elimination of hazardous and volatile compounds
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans, and containers.
– We recycle obsolete equipment and computer components.

These guys got me out of a jam! Our regular printed just all of sudden stopped doing anything vinyl. We had deadline in a few days for a SOHO installation. I’d never heard of Gorilla Printing before, found them online. Called them up, spoke to Eli he was able to rush print it and even advised us on a few different substrates to try. Overall we were VERY happy with the service and support and will be doing our printing here int he future!

Discover More about Billboard Vinyl

Custom vinyl banners printed on 13 oz or 18 oz vinyl with fade-resistant UV ink. Free grommets are included, as well as a welded hem for extra strength. For companies, events, or any special occasion, this item is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

Clean your personalised banners with warm water on a regular basis and let them air dry before storage. Roll up your banners and put them in a dry, room-temperature place for easy storage. In the sun or heat, any creases in your banners should disappear after a few hours.

Do I have to use one of your vinyl banner templates?

While we have provided designs for you to utilise as a starting point, you have three more alternatives if you don’t want to use them and want to build your own banner. To begin, select a blank template and begin designing from scratch using our design tool. Second, you may create a banner by uploading your own files. Finally, you may contact us to have something designed for you.

What are the dimensions of your banners? Do you have any other thicknesses available?

Our banners come in two different thicknesses: 13 oz and 18 oz. The most common thickness of material used for outdoor billboards is 13 oz. As a result, it should enough for any outside application. If you still want a thicker banner, the 18 oz provides you more durability for your final product. Simply said, both banners should be suitable for indoor and outdoor usage, with outstanding durability and printing clarity.

What’s the difference between the 13 oz vinyl banner and the 18 oz vinyl banner?

Though both vinyl banner alternatives provide excellent durability and picture quality, there are a few small variations between them. The 13 oz vinyl is thinner than the 18 oz vinyl, making it lighter and more flexible (which makes it simpler to roll). The 13 oz banner is only available as a single-sided banner with a welded hem as standard. When pole pockets are chosen, however, there is no welded hem. Whether pole pockets are selected or not, the 18 oz vinyl has a double-sided option and does not come with a welded hem.

Do you provide double-sided banner printing?

Yes, we can print banners on both sides. You must select the 18 oz thickness option to print a double-sided banner. Due to variations in the produced material, double sided printing is only available for 18 oz and not 13 oz material.

Do you print in black and white or in full colour? Is full colour more expensive?

Our banners are printed in full colour with UV ink on all sides. It’s also OK if you simply require one colour. The cost of your banner is unaffected by whether it is printed in full colour or one colour. Furthermore, the quantity and style of text or pictures have no bearing on the cost of your bespoke banner. We provide free design services if you want assistance with your design.

What are your banners’ minimum and maximum dimensions?

We don’t allow banners smaller than 6″x6″ technically, however we urge that you don’t print anything less than 24″x12″ in practise. If you want something smaller, we recommend one of the many different varieties of signage we have available.

Our banners may be up to 120”x1980” (10’x165′) in size. You may print almost any size as long as one of your dimensions is less than twelve feet.

If you require a banner that is larger, we can make one for you. Just give us a call and we’ll take care of the rest.

Do your banners have hems on them?

All of our 13 oz vinyl banners come with welded hems. The only time this isn’t true is when pole pockets are chosen. There is no welded hem on 13 oz banners when pole pockets are used. Instead of a welded hem, our 18 oz banners have a flush cut edge. This is true for both pole-pocket and non-pole-pocket banners.

Will there be seams on my huge banner?

No, we can print banners up to 10’x165′, therefore even extremely huge banners will be seamless. If your banner is greater than 10’x165′, we may have to sew it together.

Is the finish of your banners matte or glossy?

The finish on our vinyl banner material is semi-gloss. Our ink, on the other hand, has a more matte texture, so any white will be semi-glossy and any ink will be matte. If your banner is full colour and does not contain any white, it will be entirely matte.

Is it possible to adjust the number or spacing of grommets?

While we can’t adjust the grommet size, we do have a variety of grommet choices to meet your banner’s demands. These grommet choices are available in the Options section, which is located right below the design tool’s editing area. Unless you specify otherwise, your banner will arrive with grommets “every 2-3 feet.” You may choose “None” if you don’t want grommets, or “Every 18-24”, “Every 12-18”, “4 Corners”, or “Top Corners” if you do. One thing to keep in mind is that grommets cannot be used on banners with optional pole pockets. We do not currently provide any custom grommet choices or setups in addition to those listed below and accessible via the design tool’s Grommets dropdown menu.

Is it possible to add grommets to a banner with a pole pocket(s)?

Grommets cannot be used in banners that include pole pockets at this time. It is possible to add just one of the two options, not both. If you try to choose both pole pockets and grommets on the same banner, our design tool will warn you that they are incompatible. This message will clarify whether you choose pole pockets or grommets, as well as which options will be deleted as a result of your choice.

What’s the catch with your banner pricing? Is it possible that it’s too wonderful to be true?

Vinyl banners are historically one of the most cost-effective alternatives for advertising. Because of the enormous quantity of work we perform every day, we are able to provide the cost we do while keeping our quality. It enables us to obtain bulk prices on raw materials that smaller businesses are unable to obtain. As a result, we can offer you great value without sacrificing our quality standards.

What printing method do you employ for your banners?

Our printing technique is a four-color process that employs UV ink that is environmentally friendly, weather durable, fade resistant, and abrasion resistant. All of our banners are printed digitally on top-of-the-line large-format printers.

Which banner sizes are most commonly used?

2′ x 4′, 3′ x 5′, 3′ x 6′, and 4′ x 8′ are the most frequent banner sizes. However, we can print almost any size bespoke banner you require. Please check the FAQ question about size limits, or the design tool will notify you if you pick a size that is larger than what we can print.

Do you mean “handmade” when you say “custom made”?

No. The term “custom made” refers to the fact that the banner is produced particularly for you. The images, colours, and size are all customised to your specifications. We don’t have any common banners on hand. All of our signs are produced on large-format printers and are handcrafted, not machine-made.

Is it possible for me to customise the shape of my banner? Is this, for example, a star banner?

No. At this moment, we only have square and rectangular banners available. Cutting a banner into a different form, such as a star, might be harmful to the banner’s aesthetics and functioning.

What distinguishes vinyl banners from cloth banners?

Vinyl is the less expensive of the two options. It’s also the more durable choice, so it’s preferable for outdoor use, however it can also be used for interior signage. Fabric banners are more vivid than vinyl banners because they are produced using a dye sublimation technique. Vinyl banners have a more matte look. Our cloth banners are a wonderful alternative for interior signage since they’re scratch-resistant and feature straight edges. Simply said, if you’re searching for an outside sign, vinyl is the way to go. Choose a cloth banner if you need an interior sign for a tradeshow, presentation, or other event.

Are your vinyl banners resistant to fire?

Yes. Our vinyl banners can withstand temperatures ranging from -22 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit and have passed the NFPA 701 Flame Test conducted by the California State Fire Marshal.

Do you have any experience with huge format and gigantic banners?

We do, in fact. We can print banners up to 10′ x 165′, but if you need anything bigger, give us a call to discuss the requirements and we’ll give you a bespoke price.

So, are your banners made of vinyl or plastic? What’s the difference between the two?

Yes, our vinyl banners are quite durable and may be used both indoors and outside. Extreme weather, such as heavy wind, is an exception, since it may cause your banner to get dislodged, resulting in a damaged sign. If severe weather is forecast, we recommend that you take down your banner.

If my banner is large, will it rip in the wind? What about slits in the wind?

It is quite improbable that your banner will rip, regardless of its size. Due to the reinforced hem that comes standard on our 13 oz banner, even the edges of your sign should be good. The bigger risk is that larger banners are more vulnerable to destruction during high-wind weather events when whatever is keeping them in place breaks free. Wind slits, we’ve discovered, aren’t always an effective deterrent in high-wind situations. As a result, if severe winds are expected, we recommend temporarily removing and storing your banner. We recommend using a mesh banner if you live in a region with frequent strong winds. Please note that unlike our 13 oz banners, our 18 oz banners do not have a welded hem. Regardless, they have shown to be highly durable in a number of outdoor applications, with the exception of strong wind circumstances.

Is the printing likely to fade over time?

All of our banners are printed with UV ink that is resistant to fading and damage. This indicates that the printing will last for many years. While there may be some fading, as with any sign, we’re certain that your personalised banner will be long-lasting and sharp for many years to come.

How long will my banner survive if I reside in an extremely cold region of the country?

With appropriate care and maintenance, these banners may last for 3+ years. In the near run, cold and wintery conditions should have little effect on your banner. Though continuous exposure may shorten the banner’s lifespan, it should still survive more than a couple of years.

Are your banners suitable for parades?

Our vinyl banners are excellent for parades. They’re weather-resistant, printed in full colour with fade- and abrasion-resistant ink, and you can customise them with your own images to ensure that your message is seen by everyone in the room.

Do you provide customised birthday party banners with a photo or image?

We do, in fact. Simply select the image or photo you wish to use for your birthday party banner and upload it while designing your sign. You may submit images in the following formats:.AI,.EPS,.PS, and.PDF. We also accept the following file types:.JPG,.PNG,.GIF,.BMP,.TIFF, and.TIF.

How can I make a photo or image banner?

Choose the blank template option from the “Get Started!” menu. On the custom vinyl banners page, you may also select a blank template from the Popular Templates section. Click “Upload Image” and pick your file to upload once you’re on our design tool. We accept the file types specified in the preceding question, and the largest photo file you may upload is 25MB. After you’ve uploaded your photo, arrange it on the banner as you like it and add any text you want to go with it. Before you buy your photo banner, make sure you see the proof. You may also email us a description and we’ll create something for you for free.

Is vinyl suitable for outdoor banners/signs or advertising?

Yes, because vinyl is weather and water resistant, it is a highly durable outdoor alternative. Our bespoke vinyl banners feature an interior fabric that makes them tougher and better equipped to withstand harsh weather conditions such as sun, rain, snow, and wind. However, if bad weather is forecast, we recommend that you take down your banner.

What size should my huge banner be to be viewed from a distance of ‘x’ feet?

Think large when it comes to the letters on your banner. If your letters are 4 inches height, the ideal distance for visitors to read the sign is 40 feet. If your letters are 15 inches tall, the ideal impact distance is 150 feet. Letter height should be 1″ for every 10 feet of visibility, according to a common guideline. Despite this, your sign will be seen beyond the “farthest ideal distance,” generally 3-4.5 times farther than the maximum optimal distance. 3″ letters, for example, are best visible within 30 feet and may be seen at a maximum distance of about 90′-135′.
Other factors that influence viewability include the location of your sign, what viewers will be doing when they see it (walking, driving, standing still), lighting, colours utilised, sign design, and the eyesight of your target market. Once you’ve decided on your letter height, you’ll be able to figure out what size big banner you’ll need to accommodate your letters, clearly display your message, and look beautiful.
In a word, the best advise we can give is to think large and simple with your banner and letter size in order to make the most effect. If you’re still confused about the size of your sign, please contact us and we’ll be delighted to assist you!

Is it true that your 13 oz vinyl banners may be used outside? What about your vinyl banners, which are 18 oz?

Yes, our 13-ounce vinyl banners may be used outside. In most weather situations, including rain and light wind, the 13 oz material is sufficient for exhibiting. The UV ink we use to print your image is fade and abrasion resistant, ensuring that your banner will last a long time.

We recommend the 18 oz vinyl banner material for a thicker and heavier banner; the heavier material will increase wind resistance and stiffness under such situations. Our 18 oz banners, as well as our 13 oz banners, are ideal for outdoor use.

What are some of the most common applications for your bespoke vinyl banners?

Birthday parties, parades, grand openings, events, tradeshows and conferences, high school gyms and sports teams, outdoor advertising signs, anniversaries, reunions, now hiring signs, street signs, city events and holidays, roadside businesses (fireworks, pumpkins, fresh produce, etc.), churches and church events are just a few examples of common uses for custom vinyl banners. Vinyl banners are one of the most adaptable types of signage available.

Will the printing on my banner scratch or rub off?

No. Because all of our banners are printed with fade and abrasion resistant ink, the printing on your sign should last for many years.

Optional Extras
Do you have any banners with pole pockets for sale? What do I need to know about pole pockets and how can I order them?

Yes, both our 13 oz and 18 oz vinyl banners include 3″ tall horizontal pole pockets. Select the option in the design tool to add pole pockets to your banner. Depending on whatever option you select, dotted lines on the design tool’s artboard will show the placement of pole pockets. While we can insert your design or words in this location, we cannot ensure that it will be visible when stitched. We advise against placing any text or graphic elements inside the pole pocket regions as shown on the design tool.

Both single and double-sided banners can include pole pockets (double sided banners are only available in 18 oz vinyl). Pole pockets can be put on the top of the banner simply or on both the top and bottom (bottom only pole pockets are not available). Adding pole pockets to your banner will raise the price significantly.

The pole pockets are included in the banner size. If you choose top and bottom pole pockets for a 24″ high banner, you will have roughly 18″ of area for your design. We recommend adding 3-6″ to your size to accommodate for your pole pocket if you require a precise amount of room for your design (s).

Please keep in mind that adding pole pockets to a 13 oz banner eliminates the welded hem. There is no welded hem on 18 oz banners, regardless of whether they have pole pockets or not.

Do you provide Velcro banners for sale? What should I know about them and how to place an order?

We can make banners with Velcro, yes. These banners, however, are a special order, and you will need to contact us to purchase them.

Velcro banners turn an already flexible sign into one that may be used for a variety of reasons. Velcro banners for parades, sponsorship banners, yearly sales, and more have all been created by us. The majority of the banner remains the same year after year in all of these situations, but a specific portion is made using velcro so that it may be swapped as needed.

Velcro banners will feature a Velcro component that is part of the banner itself. Customers also frequently purchase replacement smaller banners (e.g., 24″x24″) with Velcro on the reverse side of the smaller pieces. Using the Velcro on the back side of the smaller banners, these tiny parts may then be switched out on the larger banner.

Do you provide banners with wind slits for sale? What should I know about them and how to place an order?

No, we don’t sell slitted flags. Wind slits, which are intended to reduce the impact of strong winds on a banner, have shown to be unsuccessful in protecting banners from high winds. If severe weather is expected, we urge that banners be taken down. If you reside in an area where severe winds are common, we propose mesh banners instead.

Do you sell banners made of mesh, canvas, flags, or fabric?

Fabric banners, mesh banners, and bespoke flags are all available. If you’re searching for a banner type that isn’t mentioned on our website, please contact us and let us know what you’re looking for. We’ll try our best to assist you.

Do you sell double-sided tape or adhesive-backed vinyl banners?

No, we don’t have any vinyl banners with adhesive backing or double-sided tape available right now. For a double-sided banner, you may either purchase two duplicate banners or request a bespoke quotation.
To attach your vinyl banners, you can use department store adhesive solutions such as sticky tack, putty-like things, or glues. The disadvantages of utilising these adhesives are that they are sticky, dirty, and difficult to remove once applied.

Are the banner’s pole pockets sewed on?

Because the pole pockets are pre-sewn into the banner, there is no need to assemble it when you receive it.

Does the design area of my banner get affected by pole pockets?

The designable area of your banner will not be affected by the addition of pole pockets. As previously said, text and design should be kept inside the dotted lines that show the placement of your pole pockets. This is the safest approach to ensure that your banner appears without any content or graphic components that are hidden. If you need additional design space, we recommend buying a larger banner so you don’t accidentally place design components inside the designated pole pockets on the design tool.

When I select the pole pocket option, are poles included?

The purchase of a banner does not include the purchase of banner poles. We do not have any poles available at this time. We plan to make these available in the near future. Poles can be made of wood, metal, or plastic as long as they are less than 3 inches in diameter. To guarantee that the pole fits without having to force it through the pocket, we recommend utilising poles that are smaller than 1.5″.

Is it possible for my personalised banner to come with a banner stand? Is it possible to build a retractable or pop-up banner?

If you don’t have access to a stand and your vinyl banner’s dimensions are exactly what the banner stand demands, you won’t be able to turn it into a retractable banner after you buy it. For your interior needs, a retractable banner from our website is a superior alternative. Our retractable banners come with a carrying case and a stand.

What is the best way to hang my banner?

There are a variety of methods to hang your banner. You may use zip ties, bungee cords, rope, thread, or any other sturdy material with the standard grommets that come with your banner. These may be attached to posts, chain-link fences, or anything else that provides a strong anchor.

We also recommend using all grommets when hanging your banner to avoid putting unnecessary stress on any of the grommets. We do not supply any attachments to hang your banner due to the variety of ways banners may be mounted, but you can get all of these items at your local hardware shop.

You may display your banner with flag poles or rods if you provide pole pockets with your banner. To fit correctly in the pole pocket, we recommend using poles with a diameter of less than 1.5″. (larger poles may not slide easily into the pole pocket). Rope may also be used to hang banners with pole pockets, but we’ve found that using poles produces a more attractive banner.

What is the best way to store my banner?

While our banners are designed to endure the weather and be used outside, it is occasionally necessary or desired to take them down and store them for a length of time. We recommend rolling your banner with the print side facing out before storing it. They should not be folded. The flags should be stored in a dry, room-temperature environment. Avoid keeping the flags in rooms or areas that are very hot or humid. To avoid creasing or wrinkling the banner while in storage, don’t place anything on top of it.

How can I get rid of the creases on my banner?

Vinyl banners frequently acquire creases or wrinkles after being delivered or stored. Place your banner in the blazing sun for a few hours to eliminate the wrinkles.

What’s the best way to clean my banner?

With a damp rag and warm water, vinyl banners may be readily cleaned. Avoid using any type of harsh cleaning on the banners since it may damage the printing. Cleaning your banner on a regular basis can keep it looking new for years to come.

Our vinyl banners are finished. Is it possible to recycle them?

Vinyl may be recycled in a variety of ways. For starters, several businesses recycle old vinyl banners into tote bags, messenger bags, bean bag chairs, and other items that may be reused or repurposed. Some businesses will repurpose them for your use, while others may accept the banners as a contribution to repurpose and give to someone else. In many cities, you may even put them in your recycling bin instead of your rubbish can.

Vinyl is a man-made synthetic substance. It’s a sort of plastic produced from ethylene and chlorine that, when mixed together, forms Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), also known as vinyl. Since vinyl is a form of plastic, you might claim that our signs are made of plastic.

I do a lot of outside advertising; is there a better alternative to vinyl banners?

No. When it comes to outdoor advertising signs, vinyl banners are the best alternative. They’re ideal for outdoor use because of their weather, water, and humidity resistance. If you need something for foot traffic, our A-Frame signage are also a good choice.

Is it possible to construct a vertical banner instead of a horizontal one?

Yes. You have the option of making your banner vertical or horizontal.

What if I want a banner that is completely blank? How can I go about doing that?

Go to our Custom Vinyl Banners page, select the blank template option, select your size, and then save and continue to purchase your blank banner.

Will these banners work for a trade fair I’m attending? Is it necessary for me to purchase grommets? If not, how am I going to hang it?

Rope, bungee cord, zip tie, or even a hook may be used to hang our basic vinyl banners. Visit our retractable banner website to design and purchase one if you’re going to a trade fair and need a retractable banner with a stand and a carrying bag.

Are your banners made to endure exposure to the elements?

Billboards & Spectaculars

Vinyl may be recycled in a variety of ways. For starters, several businesses recycle old vinyl banners into tote bags, messenger bags, bean bag chairs, and other items that may be reused or repurposed. Some businesses will repurpose them for your use, while others may accept the banners as a contribution to repurpose and give to someone else. In many cities, you may even put them in your recycling bin instead of your rubbish can.

You’ve seen billboards everywhere you drive, highways and major roads. These are the largest format advertising available and deliver maximum impact for all sorts of marketing campaigns. You can’t really parallel the exposure your advert receives with 14×48′ area for your ad beamed right above the highway.

Billboards require high quality, all-weather materials to stand the test of time in rain, hail or shine.
